Understanding “in the night” bookings

The “in the night” feature in Stagent is designed to make scheduling bookings easier and provide clarity when coordinating them. No more confusing ‘Is this on Friday or Saturday?’ situations. This feature is always on, so there’s no need to enable or disable it—Stagent handles everything behind the scenes, automatically adjusting how bookings are displayed.

So, how does this work?

Stagent uses the effective booking date to organize your schedule. For instance, if an event takes place on a Friday and the artist is booked for 01:00, the effective booking date is Saturday at 01:00. However, Stagent automatically shows "in the night" bookings on the day before. In the example above, the booking will be displayed as a Friday event. This logic applies to all bookings that occur between 00:00 and 08:00. Documents like contracts and invoices however, will display the effective date.

So remember: always enter the actual date of the performance to ensure accurate scheduling.

Integrating with your calendar

We took this logic a step further with our calendar integration. When an "in the night" booking scheduled for Sunday is added to the calendar, you’ll naturally want a reminder on Saturday. That’s why we include a full-day calendar event the day before an “in the night” booking, indicating the number of upcoming bookings. This ensures that all bookings and travel items are correctly organized, eliminating any confusion about any scheduled events.
